Swallows and martins all the way on the downs.
Sweet day. The sheep about Lewes are all without Horns: & have black faces & legs. Sheep have horns & white faces again west of Bramber.
Gryllus gryllotalpa works. Rooks frequent their nest-trees & repair their nests.
White sweet-water grapes begin to get clear; and the wasps to eat them.
Hop-picking begins. A very slender crop.
Winged ants migrate from their nests. Tame buzzard eats the winged ants. Swallows congregate in vast flocks.
