Hanger in leaf this day yesterday but a few trees were green. Trees & hedges in general begin to leaf.
Vines begin to sprout, & shew leaves. Distant thunder, & showers about.
Swallows & martins collect dirt for building. Regulus non crist: major cantat voce stridula locustae. Usually a late bird of passage. The horizon looks dark & louring.
Ground very moist. Barley, & all spring-corn come up well. Vast Aurora in the N.E. and S.W. & all round.
Cherry-trees begin to blossom. The sedge bird, Passer arundinaceus minor, of the Brit: zool sings about waters: variety of notes; but the manner is hurrying.
Fly-catcher. This bird is usually the last of the summer birds of passage.
Summer-like weather. Some beeches begin to leaf.
