Gathered-in the pears.  The Cardillac-tree bore five bushels.  Apples are few; & the crop of grapes small.

Full moon.  No mushrooms have appeared all this month.  I find that the best crop is usually in Aug. & if they are not taken then, the season catchup is lost.  Many other fungi.

The trufle-hunter trie’s my brother’s groves; but finds few trufles, & those very small.  They want moisture.
