Rain in Feb: 5 in. 54 hun. Peter Wells’s well ceases to run over. It is only 36 feet in depth, & continues almost full all the winter in wet seasons. A lavant from the hanger fills it. The wells in this part of the street are 63 feet deep.

Men sow pease in their fields, & horse-beans.

Cleaned-up the borders in the garden. Sowed radishes, & a few carrots under the fruit-wall.

Sheep rot very much. Ewes & lambs are much distressed by the continual wet.
