Gardens want rain. We water every day. Cucumbers come.

Several swallows on the road. Fine clover in Oxfordshire, & Berks. Barley-fields work finely. Vivid Aurora.
Some whistling plovers in the meadows towards the forest.
One house-martin about the stables. Sultry out of the wind. The garden is watered every day.
Tortoise weighs 6 ae 11 1/4 oun. He begins to eat.
Fine barley-season. Vast bloom of plums, & cherries.
