- 1789: December 19, 1789 – Walked down to short heath: the sands were very comfortable, & agreeable to the feet: the grass grounds, & arable paths were wet, & unpleasant.
- 1785: December 19, 1785 – Cut down the artichokes, & covered them; first with earth, & then with long dung. Covered the asparagus with long dung.
- 1780: December 19, 1780 – At two o’clock in the shortest days the shades of my kitchen & hall-chimnies fall just on the middle of the window of J. Carpenter’s workshop; & the shade of the chimney of my great parlor just in the midst of John Hall’s side-front. Hard frost all day. Covered the artichokes, & young asparagus with litter.
- 1775: December 19, 1775 – 10 or 12 large gulls sailing high in the air over comb-wood pond.
- 1770: December 19, 1770 – Tempestuous wind all night. This storm did great mischief at sea, especially among the colliers.
- 1769: December 19, 1769 – Wood-pigeons abound in the fields. Some lambs fall.
- 1768: December 19, 1768 – Wren sings briskly. Smoke beats down.
