Apricots, the young tree, ripen. Mossed the hills of the white cucumbers to keep them moist.
By the number of swifts round the church which seem to be encreased to more than 30, their young ones must be come out.
A surprizing humming of bees all over the common, tho’ none can be seen! This is frequently the case in hot weather.
Hops are remarkably bad, covered with aphides, & honey-dews.
Things in the garden do not grow. Clap of thunder. Vine-bloom smells fragrantly.
Golden-crowned wrens, & creepers bring-out their broods.
Farmer Turner housed his hay; it should, I think, have lain a day longer.
