Hay makes well. Flocks of lapwings on the common. After breeding they forsake the moory places, & take to the high grounds.

All vegetation in gardens seems to stand still.
Hops do not cover their poles well, checked perhaps by the cold, black weather: they are pretty much infested by aphides, that begin to abound.
Ricked my St foin, five jobbs, into a large cock. It has suffered less than could be expected. Has lost it’s smell. Is got full of coarse grass.
Portugal-laurel blows in a most beautiful manner.
