Rain in the night. Humble bee. Worms come out on grass plots: a great snail.

Snow about four inches deep. 3 Bantam hens lay.
Sowed the ashes of my own making in the great mead, where the grass is finest. Finished tacking the fruit wall-trees. Gossamer streams from the boughs of trees. Brimstone butterfly, Papilio rhamni.
The meadow measures 2 acres & 19 rods, besides the dug ground.
Tubbed, & pickled a fat porker: weight nine scores, & eleven pounds: price 8s & 4d, from farmer Hoar.
The hasels in my hedges are illuminated by numbers of catkins. Bantam lays.
